Physical Education
Department of Physical Education was established in 1963, College have Contributed much to the history of sports in India and in Karnataka. There is highly qualified dedicated faculty member with M.P.Ed Degress, K-Set, (Ph.D) & Ekalavy Award – 1999 from the Government of Karnataka, joined in 2010 February who gives excellent coaching and teaching to the students.
The college offers ample facilities for sports and games. Expert training is provided in various sports events such as Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Hand Ball, Kabaddi, Ball Badminton, Tenni Koit and Throw Ball. The college teams have been proving their excellence in various – State, National, International, South Zone/All India Inter University, Khelo India and District Levels competitions. The institution ensures the participation of students in intra Class and inter-institutional sports competitions.
Our ground is used for multi purposes, Well maintained Cricket Pitch, and a pavilion, we can mark 200 Meters (8Lane) track. Cricket and Kabaddi classes offered as a credit course. The total area of the Sports ground 11.524.16 Sq. Meters.
Newly constructed Indoor Sports Centre (area is 2300.59 Sq. Meters) with office & attached dressing room, Basketball, Shuttle Badminton, Multi Gym, Table Tennis, Chess and an exclusive yoga practice area Facilities are there.
In the sports arena, the college has dominated for the past 55 years by emerging overall champions 41 times in Athletics and 37 times in the Mysore University Inter Collegiate Inter Zonal Women’s Games. The college has retained the championship in Athletics, Games and Cross Country event, continuously for over a period of 10 years. Outstanding Sportspersons are identified and given special encouragement through cash incentives, fee concessions and special coaching.
College has produced many International and National Level sports women. A large number among our alumni sports girls are well-placed in varied professions – public administration, Teaching, Railways, LIC, Postal, Police, Forest and other government departments and non – Governamental Organisations.
