Introduction
The department started in the year 1963 July 23rd with the inception of the college. Dr.B.G Radhakrishnan and Sr. Esther Theresa led the department to success till their superannuation. Since economics is a subject of core significance, the department is trying its maximum to make the students aware of all national and international issues. Prof. Philomena Thomas joined the department in 1984 and completed her service of 32 years as a HOD of the department and retired on July 2014. Prof.Prabhakumari joined the department in 1986 and is continuing her service. Shruthi G, the Alumnae of the college joined the department in 2014.

- Remedial coaching for Kannada medium, sports and even foreign students on Saturdays and enable them to pass with distinction.

For a vibrant and growing economy, it is essential to develop capabilities of students to solve these economic problems. It is the collective responsibility of the university, the college and the faculty members of the department to acquire and strengthen the decision-making capabilities of the students
The Department of Economics at Teresian College, affiliated to the University of Mysore has also taken up the challenge to prepare future leaders who can take up the challenges of not only the Indian Economy but also the world economy. During these three years of their graduation, students in Economics are exposed to the challenges faced in the national and international economic issues. They are able to acquire strong analytical skills – both Quantitative and Qualitative – which equip them to overcome the challenges and offer solutions in their respective area of operations. They are learning the modern analytical tools to get insight to come up with solution to the society and the economy.

Introduction
The Department of Sociology had its beginning in 1967. It was established by Mr.Venkataram and was headed by many stalwarts such as Ms.Lilian Joseph and Sr.Agnistia and Sr.Regina and Dr.Premula Raman. After her retirement it was headed by Dr.Deepika M.P and now it is headed by Dr.Sr.Prafula along with her Ms.Sheeba Rani also works in the department.
The department has grown through the years giving priority to teaching several current specializations within sociology. It has also given priority to field work, internship, certificate courses along with the regular teaching. The students of the department had been working with government children’s home in Siddarthanagar.
The department exposes the student to the realities of society not only through class room interactions but also through field visits, social surveys and participation in extension activities.

Welcome to the department of sociology -A peep into the life of sociology at Teresian College, Mysuru the city of palace. Sociology is a study of science of society. Sociologists study society in a systematic manner and we are able to understand the society in a deeper level. We explore and investigate the how people net work, social interaction, co-operation, collaboration and competitive that is part and parcel of our study. The students who take up sociology become social scientists, social workers, social healers who are able to diagnose the problems and find solution through suggestions and helping in policy making.
We have energetic faculty and ever smiling, enthusiastic students who are involve in field trips, surveys and actively involved in research. We train them to fight against violence against women and empower them to be social catalyst. Department is journeying through its excellence in academic and it exhibit cultural diversity and uniformity. Introduction
The Department of History was established in the year 22/07/1963 as an optional subject for B.A Degree. Sr. Cabrini was the lecturer in History and also the principal from 1967-70. In the year 1966 Sr. Annette joined the department as a lecturer who became the principal of the college for a long period from 1977 to 1993. The other faculty members of the department were Ms. Janaki 1967-77, Ms. Margaret Jacob 1968-69, Mrs. Jennifer A Pariat 1977-78, Sr. Carona 1979, Ms Mangalakumari 1979-80, Ms. R. Prabhamani joined the department as a part time lecturer in 1979-80. In 1981 she worked as a full time lecturer and from 09/07/1982 onwards started working as a permanent faculty of the department. Sr.Joyce joined the department of History as a lecturer from 1982 and served as the principal from 1997 to 2010. Sr. Ann Mary joined the department as a part time lecturer in 1992. She became the PU Principal from 2002-2008. From 2009 she joined the degree college and later 2009 to 2011 she did her Ph.D work. In 2011 she joined the department and in 2013 she was deployed to Maharani’s college, Mysore. Again she came back and joined the department as a full time lecturer. In the year 2015 Ms. Sonia M.V joined the department as a part time lecturer.

The Department of political science was established in the year 1966. Many teachers have contributed to the growth of the department. Few of our department students have also become ministers. The Department has qualified teaching faculty. By studying political science in undergraduate level, students will be able to understand local and regional governments, national and international politics, public administration, Human Rights, political sociology and constitutions. There is a great opportunity to the political science students to pursue Master Degree and B.Ed. Political science students can also become professional Teachers, Lecturers, Administrators and civil servants. Studying political science at the undergraduate level enables students to take competitive exams and civil service exams.
